Kate’s Birthday Adventure

Hi All! So no new recipes today, but I do want to share a bit about my birthday adventure last weekend 🙂 My husband and I had so much fun camping in January that we decided to go again for my birthday. This time, a few of our friends came with us- including Lauren! And also this time, we went to a “primitive” site…you can guess what that means.

So we left after work on Friday, bringing as little as possible. Our definition of “as little as possible” meant maybeee 3 less things than normal camping. The thing about primitive camping was that the truck had to be parked about a mile from the campsite. No problem at all with a mountain bike! Ok, so factor in 50 pounds of crap, and, well, you get the idea:

The guys were nice enough to make two trips, so Lauren and I only had to make one. Lauren was lagging behind quite a bit on the bike ride. Only later did i find out why!

These crazies actually surprised me with a birthday cake! 🎂 Lauren apparently had it hidden in a garbage bag dangling precariously from her handlebars. I have good friends 🙂 In addition to the cake, we had many other delicacies, such as: instant oatmeal, instant coffee (tastes great when you really need it), eggs, PB&J, hot dogs (of course), and a beer-can-chicken-turned-chicken-corn-chowder (due to a slight miscommunication) that actually turned out awesome!

I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday, despite the lack of perfect hygiene by the end 🙂 🙂

Until next time!

  1. Looks like so much fun! Happy birthday 🙂

    1. Thank you Katie!

  2. Primitive Eh? Next time go Rambo primitive, just a knife and bow and arrow.

    1. Not sure if the state park would love us hunting there!! I think our version of “primitive” was primitive enough! 🙂
